Stiffness
It's in the filaments.....
The Super Strength and Incredible Stiffness of Whatley lighting poles and lamp posts make them capable of supporting multiple luminaire applications. Whatley poles and posts are ideal for residential, municipal and institutional areas.
Fiberglass filaments have the highest specific tensile, flexural and compressive strength of any material. Whatley fiberglass poles are twice as strong as a steel pole and stronger than any competitor's fiberglass pole of the same weight. The California Department of Transportation tested a Whatley lighting pole against a competitor pole with Whatley proving to be twice as strong. Whatley poles exceed the AASHTO and ANSI C136.20 national specifications for deflection and stiffness.
Refer to Whatley specification manual for specific EPA (Effective Projected Wind Area) ratings.
